The Tudor tradition of the Lord of Misrule has ancient roots. During the ancient Roman feast of Saturnalia, a temporary king was chosen to upend the rule of order, presiding over the raucous festivities for the length of about a month until, by some accounts, he was sacrificed to Saturn. By the time of Henry VIII, the tradition had morphed into the Lord of Misrule, sometimes called the Abbot of Unreason, chosen to be the master of revels during the Twelve Days of Christmas. History's perpetual party poopers, the Puritans, all but ended the practice in the 17th century. Boo hiss.

Misrule: A chaotic scent of cocoa powder, cinnamon, peppermint candy, gingerbread, and a touch of cannabis leaf.

Scent Profile: Gourmand
