We are excited to carry the Dangerous Women collection by our friends at Deconstructing Eden! This listing is for a 5ml eau de parfum.
Catherine De' Medici: Base notes of oakmoss, precious woods, spices and cinnamon. Heart notes of ripe peaches, Jasmine sambac and roses. Top notes of very understated citrus and bergamot.
________________________________________________
Orphaned as an infant, and the niece of Pope Clement VII, the duchessina’s early life was rife with strife and turmoil.
When she did marry into the French royal family there was little love for her in a court ruled by her husband’s mistress Diane de Poitiers. But, Catherine eventually ruled as regent for a brief time and put three of her sons on the French throne. She was also widely rumored to be quite proficient with poisons, very likely used her daughter's wedding as cover to orchestrate the Saint Bartholomew's Day Massacre in which Protestant Huguenots throughout Paris were slaughtered.
She so loved perfume that she brought her own perfumers from Italy and some say, even housed them in a building that had only a tunnel leading to the palace so that no one could steal the recipes for her perfumes.
