S&C x Fairylore: IFRIT
A collaboration with friends Dr. Sara Cleto and Dr. Brittany Warman of The Carterhaugh School of Folklore & The Fantastic upon the publication of their first book, FAIRYLORE!
ʿAfārīt are powerful, malevolent supernatural creatures found in Islamic folklore. They often have wings made of smoke, and they live underground or in ruins... “Ifrit” is ultimately a pretty nebulous term, but the vibe is rebellion, strength, and wickedness. An ifrit could be good... but they’re usually not, preferring to be ruthless and disruptive. They can be understood as demons, spirits of the dead, or creatures of the underworld.
